Profiling with DTP41

greenspun.com : LUSENET : PosterShop Talk : One Thread

sometimes if i try to build an icc profile with my x-rite dtp41 i get an error message from profiler for an uncorrect reading. But only when I`m building an ICC. Never when i do an linearisation. The message comes not allways on the same point, but it comes never in the A Strip. Any suggestions???????????????????????????

If you have PosterShop 4.0, the patch separators are printed with black ink. This sometimes is a problem for the DTP41 because it cannot distinguish one dark patch from the next dark patch. However, in PosterShop 4.2, the patch separators should be printing with cyan ink. There is an option that you can use to decrease the number of patch separators printed in a swatch. If you go to the "File" menu in profiler and then enter "Device Setup", choose the DTP41 in the list, then select the "Setup" button, choose the "Options" tab within the dialog. Then, decrease the number of patch separators by sliding the "Patch separators" control to the "Less" side. I would not decrease the number of patch separators to the minimum amount because then your DTP41 cannot distinguish between one light patch and the next light patch. I hope this helps you out.
