Problem of receiving VCD image to my TV via my PC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have been playing VCDs on XingMPeg and it does come out fine on the PC monitor. However I also have a TV output on the PC and when I conect a cable from the PC TV output to my television set , nothing happens. Do I need to set the television or PC to watch VCD on my Sony Trinitron TV which is a mono set? Also why is it that after watching a VCD movie on PC for a couple of minutes, the image just suddenly freezes, and my PC hangs? Could it be due to the CDRom player's fault or due to the VCD itself? I hope someone could offer some advice. Thank you.

To start with the PC-hanging problem, I think I've seen it before with XingMPEG. I'd suggest trying another player (e.g. Microsoft's) and getting a refund from XingMPEG.

I'm afraid I don't know much about PC-to-TV cards.... I'd guess you need to tell the PC-to-TV card to send the VCD player output to the TV, but I have no idea how you'd do it. You might check with the manufacturer of the PC-to-TV card.

It's because you have your resolution to high. Take it down to 640 x 480 and it'll work fine.
