Win98 Problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I too am having problems with VideoCD's running on Windows '98. I have had them working perfectly on the same computer until I upgraded to Win98 then they didn't work any more. The VidCd's work on all my mates computers that have Win95 on them but not the ones with Win98 I think it has something to do with the new ActiveMovie that comes with Win98 If anyone can help out it would be much appreciated as I don't want to have to reinstall Win95 to watch my VidCD's

I think you should have formatted your drive completely before you install Win98 since some *.ini registry of Win95 might overlap and contradict Win98's registry. I have Windows 98 running on my PC and I'm using Windows Media PLayer to play my VCDs and it is really nice. Win98 plays faster VCDs than Win95.

Actually I would have to disagree. The media player can run VCD's fine. Its just you have to tweak it. My media player had reset my audio back to FM/1 channel/8 bit quality. Why i have no clue. the only way i could fix that was I had to go to Active movie, and edit the properties and save it as default. You may have to do the same thing except with the Video aspect. I'm not sure, your to vague about your problem.
