Please let me introduce myself. My name is Tracy I have lived my whole childhood with Toy Poodles(I thought every grandpanent had atleast one, mine did)So last spring I got my baby, Our Precious Fine Jewel,or just Jewel.I got her from a great breeder, her sire is a champion with great blood lines. Well, anyway last weekend we went to see the breeder (so my husband could fix his computer)We brought Jewel and he fell in love!! First he wants me to show her he said she is beautiful, but I have two small children and not enough time. So, he wants a puppy from her. We talked about trading a breeding for a pup. He wants to breed her to a blue toy, Jewel is black her mother is red so am I going to get messy colors? Does anyone know anything about blues? I have never heard of blue in toy. Also now that I saw her sire agian after all these months and he is out of his show coat he looks pretty gray not quite silver, could he be concidered a blue? Will jewel turn gray? Will that effict her chances of showing? Please help!!! I have many many more questions so you will here alot from me! Thank you for your help! Tracy&Jewel

Tracy, if Jewel is black, she will probably stay black. She might lighten, and turn a little brown. She might also get some grey or white hairs mixed around, that is just old age. If Jewel's mother is red, you could very well have some parties, but you also could get brown, red, silver, blue, or black. and black is the more dominating color. A blue is actually silver with a darker under coat, which makes it appear to be blue. and with any color, age and sun can lighten. Hope this helps out. I like to talk about poodles anytime.

Hi Tracy, I have a blue male std. that has produced 3 litters. Breed to an apricot they had 3 apricots & 3 blues. Bred to a white he had 3 blacks,6 whites and 3 cream w/black tips(born black). Bred to the 1st apricots daughter (also an apricot)they had 1 black, 4 creams & 1 brindle. My white female was bred to a blue male 2 times. the 1st produce 11 blues and silvers. the 2nd produced 10 blues and silvers.Of the puppies that looked black they turned blue at 2years of age.Of the puppies that looked blue they turned silver at two weeks of age.A black that has light colors in its back ground is a hybrid black and usually does get white/grey hairs as it ages. What you get in a litter also depends on the colors in the background of the parents. I am not an authority this is based on my experience and research. Diana
