digital outs

Is there a way to play sound digitally out of a K2000? What I want is to be able to record, digitally, the sound of a sequence (or live performance) from the k2000 into, say, the digital in on a PC soundcard. I had assumed that the digital out that comes with the sampling option would do this, but I was told yesterday at a store that the digital out can *only* be used to dump a sample. Is this true? Is there any way to record the output of the k2000 digitally?

Yes your clarification is correct. Whatever is being played on the K2000 be go out both the analog and digital outs!!

Have fun!

I do work for Kurzweil. Though it is not specifically documented on the Kurzweil website, it is documented in the manual for the sampling option. This would be the PRIMARY reason for having a digital out on ANY keyboard. The K2000 will do exactly what you are asking, again your salesperson is misinformed. I use my K2's in this fashion all the time.

Thanks for using this forum. Mike Martin

The salesperson you talked to was absolutely INCORRECT. I'd be very interested in finding out what retail store told you this.

The purpose of the digital out is for doing EXACTLY what you are wanting to do.

I appologize for the missinformation that you recieved, I hope it was not from one of my Kurzweil dealers.

further clarification:

So, what you are saying is that, with the digital out(s) that come with the sampling option, I can connect the k2000 to the digital in of a soundcard and record a constant stream of digital sound data, be it live performance, or playing the sequencer, or whatever, just as I can with the regular analog outs into the analog in of a souncard?

Do you have any pointers to "official" information on this, such as on the Young Change web site? I have heard from yet another salesman that (possibly) the digital outs on the S option cannot do this, and I would be interested in seeing an authoritative source of info.

Thanks, Greg
