Win98 VCD Problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi

I have a problem with some VCD's not playing in Win98, I use several different players but for some unknown reason they won't play. The curious thing is the very same VCD"s work on a Win95 machine. Any solutions? Is this common? If it will help the VCD's are Something about Mary and Saving Private Ryan. Also most other VCD"s work on my PC.

Thanks

Pirated VCDs sometimes (often?) have strange problems -- they'll play on one machine but not another, probably because of minor deviations from the VCD standard. I suspect it's that kind of problem.

Any Video CD's I create with VideoPack 4 work great on set-top players but WILL NOT play on my pc/windows 98. Nero, winoncd work just fine. Any Ideas? I have used the sam mpeg clip for all tests. I have tried xing player, powerdvd and windows media player. All crash with videopack 4 videocd. =o(
