Manual vs.Classic etc.

I have never used an auto anything except the meter and I can bang them off just about as fast as an auto, or if I feel like it I can take my time and really set up the shot. I get good and bad results from both equally. What's the big deal. You should be able to photograph anything, anytime and with any camera. Let's quit being such wimps about it - I'm sure painters don't get this philisophical about their brushes. PS THIS WAS SAID IN FUN, DON'T GET OFFENDED.

Answers

Andy clearly has never talked to a traditional Chinese painter, especially a calligrapher.

Sorry, Andy, I couldn't resist the bait.

No problem Alan that's why I cast it out there. I'm just sorry that I don't have a worthy response.

Let's see some of your photography. The proof of the pudding...

Now is that the good or bad stuff that you want to see?

Manual vs. Classic

I've just looked and there are still 3 images of mine on a web site called Worldphoto. They are my earlier efforts but that's all that are available on the net. Go for it! http://www.worldphoto.com/Laycock/laycock.htm

Correction

I just realized that the e-mail address on that web site is no longer valid.

In my own case, I've found that I tend to have more success when I use a fully manual camera and ONE single focal length lens! I've gone the zoom lens, auto exposure camera route and I believe that it tends to induce laziness. I tend to work harder and put more thought into what I put on film when the "options" are limited. Also, I don't shoot as much film!

Oh, absolutely, it's all a load of whining! (grin) (liars mode on) Why, the last time I had my hands on an F5, I just ripped out the guts and turned it into a pinhole camera. Man, was the owner ever mad!

I always put my 8x10 on manual. That way I have total control. Those dumb 11x14ers are always ribbing me about all their auto features especially their auto winders. Sheeesh.
