This is an excellent photo. The lighting is beautiful, the flower is quite sharp, good use of DOF. The lack of subject movement makes me ask, was this a particularly calm day or was the shutter speed rather high. The purple color fuzzy bud to the left is somewhat distracting, but I like the image anyway. Was this a "Found View" or did you use the ole' Glycerin/water spray bottle approach? Either way it's wonderful, but you get extra credit in my book if its a "Found View."

Very nice image - nicely composed - and the unopened buds help fill out the frame. If I were to say one thing could be improved, it would be the black, dark area in the background that runs diagonal through the flower. The high area of contrast does tend to lead your eye away from the main subject.

This was, in fact, after the rain -- I didn't spray the flower. The air was still, but I didn't record the speed or exposure.

Minolta 600s1, Minolta 80-200 f/2.8 lens, B&W circular polarizer, no flash.
