Taking pictures of old books and documents

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am doing an historical reserch and I must take pictures of certain pages in old books and other documents. I can not use a scanner or Photocopier. Wich technique do you suggest? Wich specifications should I look for in choosing a camera? Wich camera?

Thank you grazie, arrivederci

What part of your question isn't already answered in the archives under taking pictures in the National Archives?

Use the search, Luke.

Marco-

You're definitely to be forgiven for not finding the earlier info on photographing books - our search engine is still fairly crude, and I had a hard time myself when I tried searching on just "photographs old books", which seemed like the most obvious search string. If you haven't already, take Ben's suggestion and search on "National Archives", which will pull up my answer and Ben's (much better) one. I as surprised by the success of Ben's experiment with his Oly 600 and a newspaper! Good Luck!
