Am I the only one who saw Ed Yardeni on C-SPAN last night? He was talking about Year 2k.

Pardon me, Amy, someone left an "HTML tag" open again on the thread "What about you." I don't have a clue as to how to fix it. If you get a chance, would you fix it? Thanks! PS- I didn't see Mr. Yardeni.

Ed Yardeni was just on CSPAN giving a speech about the Year 2k (Tues 7:30 EST). Some quotes "We need to warn people that the services they depend on may not be there. No one is going to panic a year and a half in advance." "There is no leadership on this problem". "The worst thing that can happen is that we prepare for a war and it doesn't come".

I happened to roll over at about 2am and find my TV on C-Span. I don't remember putting it there. Anyway, as I faded in and out of consciousness, I was listening. Lots of heavyweights there. The thing I guess that disturbed me the most was a lecturing partner of Yardeni who stood up at the end and proclaimed the gov. is "dead in the water", and if not involved in contingency planning, we're all in trouble. Does anyone know how recent this conference was? I've been waiting to hear an update from Yardeni.

BTW, Yardeni will be the guest next week on the Tony Brown Journal on PBS.

I think this was from the Y2k conference by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Transcripts of the speakers for that conference are available at http://www.csis.org/html/y2ktran.html <<<<<>>>>>...

Yep, that was a rerun of the CSIS conference, this past June 2. Yardeni, Sen. Bennett, deJager, Alan Simpson, Bruce Webster and others spoke.

The entire C-SPAN video of that conference is archived at http://w ww.bog.frb.fed.us/y2k/video_index.htm#19980602, the Federal Reserve Board of Governors site. RealPlayer 5.0 or better is needed for viewing; http://www.real. com/products/player/index.html
