What's the Best Place to Go?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I am wondering where you recommend as the best places to go to set up your life in preparation for this crash. Obviously one would not wish to be in a big city but is there an optimum location and what are the considerations (ie. fresh water, fishing, trees, etc.) I am in Canada and wonder if you have any thoughts on this matter.

Thank you

Well, these are your basic needs: warmth, food and water. If you live on the coast of Florida and have a fish hook and a bucket, you may be covered. If you live up North, not near any water source, then you need to make preparations. I would advise not getting too complicated with preparations. Think in terms of a dog - they seem to survive without cars, money and all those things we think we need. Don't get lost in all the details of things you might need because 99 percent of the time all you need is warmth, food and water.

Uh Amy, if the TSHTF, dogs have no morals, and they are fully equipped to eat people.

Please don't encourage this behavior.

I take it you are a cat person?????

No, but my daughter has a pet turtle. I guess that means I'm an engineer: I kinda like the efficiency of its self-contained house.

Then too, I'm a guy - and I kinda like its efficiency of sitting on a creek bank in the sun watching the river go by.
