I keep seeing how digital cameras are using the slow, serial port connection to transfer images to the PC.... USB ports are popular enough now that they can be used, yet they are not. Why is this???

It takes a surprising amount of time to develop a computer product (typical digicam developments cycles run 18-24 months), and the implementation of USB in Windows '95 apparently wasn't solid enough for mfrs to develop to. I expect you'll start to see a lot of USB-connected products over the next 6 months or so, as products that are "in the pipe" start to hit the streets...
