Sunset on HWY 280 - Another boring sunset picture?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

To some photographers all sunset pictures look the same. What do you think? Film: Fuji Velvia/ISO 50 - Camera: Pentax ZX-5N, Lens: 120-600mm Vivitar zoom W/Vivitar 2.0X Teleconverter on tripod (it was very windy and camera was visibly shaking!). Exposure: On-camera spotmeter, directly metered off the medium gray toned area to the right side of the sun with no interpretation. Lens wide open with approx. effective aperture of f-16. The Exposure time was not recorded but I think it was in the range of 1/15 - 1/30 sec. The image was cropped to enhance composition.

Very nice. The dark clouds that almost appear to "wrap around" the sun enhance the mood.

Bahman,

Normally, I'd find center placement a bit static, however, I this case it seems to work reasonably well. The grainess gives it the appearance of a water colour also. Very nice.

Wow! Fantastic! Nice exposure, and nice composition. Some people might find the composition static, but it reminds me of the Japanese flag, and this similarity makes it very interesting!

Sometimes the "big wizards" spend hours in the darkroom the get a montage like this shot. But you justify my oppinion that no darkroom or PhotoShop can make better wonders than nature does.

Thanks for sharing it with us.
