Response to pope [What does he do for people?]

The Pope is considered the vicar, or spoeksperson for Christ in the world. This occurs when he speaks on a metter of faith and morals.

The Pope's mission is the same as Christ's - to bring all people to the Father. He does this by preaching the message of the Gospel, and as important, in the work he does. The principal work is in writing and speaking so as to develop our love and understanding for God and His Church.

Also, he visits countries to encourage the faithful Christians there and to witness to the Faith. He has private projects which feed the poor and needy and which encourage missions to parts of the world.

He also helps people, although in an indirect way, by engaging the world's political process. By helping to guide international agreements which can affect family life and rleigious freedom, he safeguards our ability to live in the freedom of God's love.

At a local level, he is the Bishop of Rome. Recently, he opened the Jubilee door at his diocesan church and met with the people of his diocese.

Hope that helps give you a start.
