Bromoil is an early process in which starts with a b/w fiber print. The silver is bleached away and the gelatin is tanned chemically. Stiff litographic inks are brush applied and stippled onto a water soaked print (which has been surface dried) and the inks replace the original silver in the print. The advantage of the process is control of the image. Color, contrast, mood, grain, etc. are controlled by the printmaker.
