A technical question. What is the best resolution to scan a negative for computer manipulation? The image file will then be used to product a negative for regular printing.

Answers

It depends on what manipulation you are doing. In general: the more the merrier. If the manipulation is fairly light, you could probabaly get away with the normal CD resolution, which is about 2000x3000 pixels. For heavier manipulation, the "Professional" standard of 4000x6000 would be better. For really good results, I think these should be the minimum.
