well you have a choice of playing it on pc. 1.buy a mpeg-video card that supports vcd movies. 2. or a cheaper way is to d/l a vcd player for the pc like xingplayer that at www.xingtech.com, or activemovie @ microsoft.com. it depends if you have a fast computer like a pentium

See the Video CD FAQ, at http://www.geocities.com/~rwvong/vcdfaq.html.

You can use Microsoft's media player (free from Microsoft www.microsoft.com in their download area) to play back each of the clips on your VCD. You'll have to select "all files" when opening the DAT files on the VCD (they are in MPEGAV or SEGMENT).

Other vcd players can be found on www.download.com or www.shareware.com. You can also check www.mpeg.org.

I use mpegplayer - it has a command play vcd. It also can play DAT and MPEG files individually. Furthermore, it allows you to extract MPEG from VCD and edit/concatenate MPEG clips. $20 from http://www.seller-club.com/mpegplayer/Main.htm

I don't have an answer, but I too, am new to this VCD technology etc. so I need help understanding what this is. I am not technology literate by any means, so your help is greatly appreciated.

I just bought a VCD video on Ebay last week and am trying to play this disc on my Pentium II Dell computer. I can't get it to do anything. It won't play my disc. I have Window Media player on it. Can someone kindly tell me the steps of how to play this video on the PC? Since I am not very proficient on the PC, exact steps of what I need to do would be helpful.

I need to be able to play this disc for a class I am taking at the university (for a presentation) so your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!!!

1 step, download a media player called Quick VCD. This will play mpegs off of VCD's. Browse the disk for your video/videos.
