Hawaii and Y2K

Aloha,

I've been trying to find out what is being done in Hawaii to make it Y2K compliant. I have written to the Governor (who has not responded yet); Maui Electric and the Dept. of Water Supply at the County of Maui, the latter two only had vague answers trying to assure me thta they have a "plan" and are working on the problem. Nobody has given me any definite answers. I have 2 questions:

1. How could I find out more about what is being done and what we can do to help?

My colleague and I install and fix computers. He is a programmer, but doesn't seem to be very informed on the whole Y2K issue. I have given him the Power Point File.

2. What information can I give him so we can start working on solving this Y2K problem?

Thanks in advance, : ) Maddy

Don't worry about it.

You have 9 more hours to work on the problem than the rest of us. You will be able to learn from our mistakes ... besides, you're already self-sufficient and well isolated from the problems here on the mainland.

Climate: no worry about winter, no power grid interfaces, no real food/water worries, less riots, already on vacation, ....

By the way, can i stay with you for a couple days, say starting about mid-December 1999?

Each state has a Year 2000 coordinator. I wrote to mine and got a good response.

Amy, what exactly is a "good response"?
