I'm sorry, but it doesn't work for me. I can't find a subject to focus on, my eyes are going in zig-zag, and after a few seconds it is confusing. I've tried to re-crop it, but found no better composition. Maybe it's very fascinating in live, but you don't tell us anything with this one about the "feeling".

I like the abstractness, but i think the sun is too close to the edge. Also it's too strong for my liking.

I kind of like the lattice of trunks and branches; I find myself traversing the strong vertical lines and then lingering at the sun flare. And the pattern of colors is interesting. In fact, what makes this shot unusual is the gold fringe around all the small branches and twigs. Is this the product of technique (perhaps a double exposure with one in focus and one out of focus) or the result of strong backlight on this specific subject?

Thanks to everyone who responded so far. There was no special technique involved, just a handheld Elan IIe, 28-105 zoom and Sensia 100. The scan is from a print and a little sharpened.

If your "eyes are going in zig-zag" or you don't like the sun's size/position, please check out a heavily cropped version.

I like it a lot. The pattern is abstract, the extreme color contrast adds to the abstractness and the unusual placement of the sun adds a little anchor point. Don't let your eyes wander, just look at the picture as a whole.

I've checked the cropped one. It reminds me of a marble pattern. It is interesting. About the original one again: looking at it as an abstract, it works. As a "nature shot", still strange for me. Now, I'm really curious about some other pictures of you. Do you have a link?
