Consentration Camps

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Within the past few years the Govt closed many military bases for economic reasons they said, yea, right ! What better place for those who will need to be relocated, the ones who are passive and have a strong belief in the Govt, as being right all the time... Wake Up Call ! Wasn't there a place in Washington State that was making train cars... like 750,000 train cars??? It's interesting how Uncle Bill has kept the Martial Law in effect! With the bombing of the places in Afganistan and Sudan, kinda makes you wonder if all he needs now is time before Y2K the early stages makes things go bad here in States before he relinkquishes his powers to F.E.M.A. Then we all can see his mode of maddness... I also wonder if Uncle Bill and George will be happy in Mt Weather ???? during the y2k situation or back at Mena Airport for a flight back to Cenral America ???? I wonder ???

Concentration Camps I'm sorry to say this, and so what. I might be put in the "black helicopter crowd" after this posting. I have actually seen two of these "facilities" or camps as it were. One is in south Georgia, not far from the Okeefonokee Swamp. The other is in North Florida. I will not go into detail except to say that the typical US Govt. "Shoot on Sight" signs were posted everywhere. The difference in these places vs. normal military bases was that there were towers in several places. Along with razor wire for hundreds of yards. I have only one thing to say; remember 1935. And be prepared.

Get a grip. Call me a naive fool who is also in denial, but I think concentration camps are a little far-fetched. Have you guys ever heard of prison over-crowding? I think that is a more plausible explanation than concentration camps for my and my aunt Bessie. I will categorize these statements with the 47% of idiots who feel that the "agression" by the US was in response to Lewinsky and not terrorism. If Bill was going to distract us from Lewinsky, he should have done that prior to his deposition.

Sorry for the rambling.

When it comes to concentration camps for "the ones who are passive and have a strong belief in the Govt, as being right all the time," the thing I always think of is numbers. When it comes to passive people, those numbers would be something like 150,000,000 American men, women, teenagers, children (at least). That's a lot of people to round up, transport, move, imprison, feed, clothe, manage in general. Can't ever begin to imagine how anyone would do it, can you?

And as far as those 750,000 railroad cars go, the railroads aren't going to be working anyway, right? And when the embedded systems on the oil rigs under the sea go on the blink and the tankers run aground on account of the missing GPS beams, and all the valves at the regineries lock shut (just before the grid goes down), there won't be any gas, so everyone would have to be made to walk.

But who's gonna make them? And where would they make them walk to? And what would they make everybody do when they got there? In order pull the concentration camp thing off you'd need something like 15 or 20 camps the size of New York City or Los Angeles. (And imagine how much furniture you'd need - even if it was just cots and stools!) I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but I don't think it has been yet (somebody would've noticed camps that size - Yardeni would've noticed the surge in the stock price of the companies that make razor wire - things like that). And just like everything else connected with y2k, if they aren't well on their way to be completed, there probably isn't time to get them built...

Numbers. I always think of the numbers. 275 million people total. I don't know what percentage of them are passive (or what that really means unless it means a who person thinks the government's always wrong isn't passive which means...) but it's probably pretty high. Think about it: You're in charge. Your mission is to round up, let's say, 67% of those people and see to it they get to these certain undisclosed locations ASAP. They're all Americans. They may not be radical, but they aren't going to want to go. They aren't going to want to walk. The business types are going to start giving you flack about calling their attorneys, their buddy the sheriff, the governor, blahblahblah. A lot of women would just start laughing in your face, or get wildly, legitimately hysterical and protective of their crying children and start throwing garbage and whatever else was handy at you. The teenagers would be dissing you, saying, "Riiiiight. Like I'm gonna walk to Cleveland." They'd be laughing too, as they squirted away on their inline skates, rap blasting into their heads out of the solar Walkmans they all bought as part of their y2k prep projects. And then, of course, there'd be the knarly non-passive types shooting at you from their basement and upstairs windows.

Tough, tough job. I just can't ever imagine anyone ever imagining it would be worth the effort. I can't ever imagine anyone in a position to even attempt it ever imagining it could possibly work. But then, I'm about as ignorant as it's possible to be. And let me tell you, it's a wonderful thing. The thing is, you're going to find y2k's the best thing that ever happened to you. Oh sure. You grunt now. But when you're sitting there, wherever you'll be in 2003 (and it's right around the corner - remember 1993?), think back on this and see if it isn't true. You won't be in a concentration camp and neither will I. Unless we're already in one, that is. Concentrated into a computer screen. Concentrating on the president. Concentrating on the government. Concentrating on underground cities with secret back-up governments and ultra sophisticated communication systems that can hear us breathing, count our money, tell us things we don't want to hear in our sleep. Concentrating on all that AND y2k like rabbits concentrating on invisible headlights while life's going on all around us, right over there, 20 feet away in the woods.

Over and out...

I give up. Why would the government want us in concentration camps? To keep us alive so that they still have tax paying citizens? To keep us from looting? Clue me in.

I can tell you this much. I am a police officer with a very large count police dept. In the Eastern part of the country. We have had several staff meetings about the Y2K problem and we are being told that if this occurs we will have a place set up for the officers familys to go to that will be safe. They expect a lot of looting and killing in the streets if food and gasoline are cut off. This will bring out the local gangs to take what they want. This is a potentially dangerous situation and a very real one!!

-- Ed Whitacre (ed@hotmail.com), August 21, 1998.

Will Warren, Amy, I couldn't have said it better myself. Logistics and motive. Both would be in short supply in a nationwide disaster.

The closest parallel I can think of was the Trail of Tears in 1832. Soon after gold deposits were discovered in (what was left of) the Cherokee Nation territory, the army forced-marched the tribe to Oklahoma. Oops, except for the 10,000 that slipped the leash & hid out in the mountains of North Carolina for several decades before they were discovered. They remain there to this day.

I've spun out my own gloomy predicitions on this forms vis-a-vis the "militia" groups... but has anyone considered how one or more of the dozens of native tribes/nations might take advantage of the chaos to first declare independence & then go on to settle some old scores? Can't say I'd blame them.

Answered by Ed Whitacre (ed@hotmail.com) on August 21, 1998. ....... Sorry OFFICER ED:

I can't buy this. The smallest police force of the top 25 metro cities has over 4,000 members with NYC at over 25,000. While Mayor Rudy has his emergency bunker planned, please tell us how in the world anyone could hide preparations for a safe haven for the FAMILIES OF 4,000 Officers much less 25,000???? In addition, while there have been discussions in various police departments about all sorts of 'emergency planning' (not necessarily Y2k related) any discussions about "Special arrangements" for Police Officers' families would hit the media in HOURS.

In short,,please either give some details and facts or,,,,give us all a break SKEPTIC
