Thanks Brian, I looked at the source of the other postings. Hopefully I'll get it right the next time. Picture of gator taken at Lake Alice, Univ. of Florida, with an Olympus 500 digital camera.

Larry, Wow! This is nice. I really like the reflections in the water behind his (her?) head. The color is also very nice. What's the film? If I had one minor nit to pick, I would have included a little space in front of the beast's snout - the end of his nose looks like it is cut off, even though it is mostly obscured by the vegetation. Thanks for this lovely reminder of pleasant times around Lake Alice. GO GATORS.

If the "repair" link supplied by Brian is correct, there is one element of this image that is not pleasing.

The lily pads at the bottom appear florescent almost. IMO this may be because of digitial manipulation involving contrast stretching. This also has and effect on the gater I see many "purple" spots. If these artifacts are from "aggressive" digital manipulation, then less aggressive efforts should improve it.

The compostion I find attractive with the gator's head oriented almost along the diagonal. The lily pads at the bottom help to anchor it.

Duh. Ignore the film question.

Concerning digital manipulation. This picture was taken under a bridge at close range (~4 ft) using the on-camera flash. The shinny green lily pads went white so I tried to restore them to their real color with photoshop. Besides sharpening, and minor contrast adjustment, the rest of the picture is raw pixels.

Looks over sharpened, especially around the eyes.
