Ether Drift Theory and Aeon's shock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

When watching Ether Drift Theory recently I paused the tape just when Trevor was removing Aeon's panties. Since I've got a nifty new VCR with a clear freeze-frame, I was able to study Aeon's expression in detail. Trevor hauls the undergarments into sight behind Aeon and she raises her head, startled. This is something I've never seen on Aeon's face - not surprise, not cunning, not plotting, just open and utter shock. Look for it sometime. Weird, eh?

Yes, a very nice image. Despite the fact that this episode was (mostly) poorly done, visually, at the same time it presents a few visual gems. At some moments, like the one mentioned, the visual quality is excellent. Also, the opening sequence, say, the first five minutes, is very well done. Character design throughout the episode is quirkier than usual. And the four-armed cyborg sequence is wonderful, it's too bad they killed her off so quickly...

Also cool are the scenes depicting the patrons Aeon sees as she walks into the cafeteria. They go by quickly, but if you look closely, they are very revealing and interesting, and I suspect that Chung himself may have drawn them, judging from the look of it.

That look of surprise and shock: what do you think the surprise/shock is? From the loss of panties or the loss of control to Trevor?

Underwear is a symbol of security, not wearing any says 2 things 1. I have nothing laborius to do today 2. I don't need extra protection to feel in control. Yep thats how its breaks down.:)

Yeah, it does make one of those two statements. Either that, or it's laundry day...
