Well as my first post of an image, here is a juvenile whistling kite taken at sunrise in Cape York Penninsula, Australia.

Technical Details: Canon EOS-5, 800mm scope, Ektachrome 200.

Nice photo! I find the positioning of the branch unusual and quite appealing. The lighting is a little harsh and image doesn't seem super sharp. The background sky sets off the bird nicely.

congrats on catching a great pose on film. i would like this shot a lot more if the lighting on the bird wasn't quite so yellow, and if the overall image was a little sharper. did the graininess come from the scan? what speed was the film? greg

These birds were really hard to approach and so this photo was taken around 15 metres from the bird, from behind some trees over a creek using a spotting scope with camera attachment. The film was Ektachrome 200 and part of the image (more tree) has been cropped. The enlarging is most likely where the graininess came from.
This shot was take immediately after sunrise, as I had hoped to catch the best light conditions for the day. The slide is a little less yellow.
