Interior lighting in sleepers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I rode the Silver Meteor, Silver Star, Florida Special and the Champion in the Late 50's and Through the Sixties. I have been searching for a long time for the interior lighting found in the sleepers of that period and a little earlier. I believe they were manufactured by Safety Lighting of Milford, Conn. Can you help?

Thank You, Jack King

Most of the interior lighting for passenger cars built after WWII by Pullman, ACF and Budd used lighting manufactured by Luminator. Luminator light fixtures can be (typically) identified as having glass, fluted lenses. To the best of my knowledge, all post-WWII cars owned by the SAL used Luminator products exclusively.
