Very nicely exposed shot. Good use of the 81B (and a tripod). It would be perfect (for me) if that dead/dying broad leaved plant were not there. The little bit of color it adds is offset by its distracting your attention from the Birch trees. Great work.

I like the broad leafed plant...it adds balance.

The dead plant is really necessary, otherwise the image would be boring. I would like to see more of the birk trees in the background, almost as a "vertical panorama" shot would be cool.

I would have to agree, the dead plant brings more depth to the photo. I Like it...

The black area in the bottom left is very interesting and adds a lot to the overall photo. You almost feel you want to crawl in there and see what world lies beneath the ferns.
I would like to have seen some more of the birch trees as the perspective is a little difficult to determine. Is the shot taken looking down or hroizontal?

I like this image a lot, but agree that the green part is a little too dominant. Do you have a horizantal shot ?

Overall I think it is a beautiful photograph. I don't think there is too much green, it has a very cool, calming effect on me. I like it!

I like the photograph. The bottom right fern, the dark space to the left of it,and the orange plant behind it to me form the subject matter for me. The background ferns and trees import a sense of depth and framing as well as contrast. The trees are straight(with many leaves) and rigid and grey whereas the ferns are full and green and not rigid. As pointed out, good use of the warming filter to bring out the glow of the ferns. f16 was a good choice for a nice DOF. Was it misty or is the perceived fogginess an illusion? It is an interesting photograph which works because of the contribution made by the contrasting elements.

Paul, The mist came from the rain that was falling on us all morning. Since we were pretty high up in the canyon we were right in the middle of the clouds.
