16 MB Smartmedia on MX-700 ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does anyone know if the new 16 MB Smartmedia cards will work in the Fuji MX-700. The MX-700 was designed around the same time as the D340L from Olympus, and that camera DOES support the use of 16 MB Smartmedia cards. Maybe someone from FUJI could answer this ?

Seems a bit silly to answer my own question, but here is the good news:

Apart from the Olympus D340L, also the MX-700 works with the newer 16 MB Smartmedia cards. This has been confirmed by several (well, three actually) different users on rec.photo.digital

Look at this link for a nice overview:

The cards NC sells are from Toshiba.

I'll try to get a list of all brands compatible with the Fuji MX-700.

From Benjamin Gaudio of NC comes this posting:

The 16MB SmartMedia cards are now in stock, however, the rumors are correct that they don't work with most existing cameras.

Out of the digital cameras that we carry, here is what I found:

Will work with:

Olympus D-340L Fuji MX-700

Won't work with: Olympus D-300L Olympus D-320L Olympus D-500L Olympus D-600L Ricoh RDC-2 Ricoh RDC300 Ricoh RDC-300Z Minolta Dimage V

If anyone has had an opportunity to try them with a camera not listed, please post a follow-up for the benefit of the group.
