Could be an interesting abstract, but the combination of sharp areas and large out-of-focus/water-movement areas doesn't work for me. Let's see what others think.

I agree with the above post.

Doesn't work for me either. Too "busy", no center of interest, not really sharp where it should be sharp. Highlights burnt out. I'd better stop there I think.

Wow, a negative comment from Bob?!?! How unusual!

Well, in this case I tend to agree with him. I'm wondering if maybe you hadn't cropped so close, we could see what was going on in there. I think this is more a case of "style" (meaning the technique of slow shutter speeds to blur the water) over "substance" (meaning there's no real subject here, nor really any composition...even for an abstract).

hmm...i think im getting the hint here :) no seriously though, the shot is shown nearly full frame. the unsharp "sharp" areas are a result of the tripod being stuck in the rapids and too long of a shutter speed. this also caused the various yellow leaves i put in the water to contrast with the blue rocks completely disappears. ive gotten some ideas from your comments which id like to try the next time im in palolo valley.
