Hi guys, How are all of ya?
copyright 1998 Tim Tregubov

Zeiss 35-70mm macro, with Fuji Provia. I had a couple shots left on the roll and was walking around my backyard trying to fill them, here's one of the shots. Its a dead tree trunk with a single grass growing in front of it. I thought the shot rather neat, perhaps not purely beautiful nature, but neat nonetheless. Tell me what ya think, Talk to you later, Tim

It's a very unusual composition with only a thin strip of out of focus background on the left. Without this strip, the picture would be boring - but still, something is missing...

Nicely conceived, but I don't think the grass stalk is big or interesting enough a subject to offset the background elements. It gets overwhelmed, rather like the rebel ship underneath the Imperial battlecruiser in the opening sequence of Star Wars. (Bet you didn't think anyone would be comparing your work to George Lucas, eh?).

Hmmm... Love it! But, (there is always a but, isn't there?) I have two minor nits. I would have used a longer lens to reduce the convergence on the tree. And I would have increased the depth of field so all of the tree would be in focus, the right edge (particularly the lower right edge) of the tree is out of focus. Other than those minor nit's, and excellent photo. :-)

Nice, but I don't care for the out of focus backround to the right of the tree. My eye is drawn to that rather than the grass on the left. Ted.

I like it with some modifications. Eliminate the thin green strip on the right. Make it a study in tone and form almost as if it were BW. Infact, you may wish to make it BW. A sharp DOF would have improved it. A slight digitial sharpening might do the trick now. With these improvemovements, a very nice natural abstract.

Sorry. No, no, no. Not an interesting subject. Too wide contrast range and totally distracting strip of nothing on right side.
