New RDC4300 compared to the 300z

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Well I did the upgrade and go a 4300 to replace the "low res" 300z and thought that would be a great improvement..Yes the camera does a fine job of capturing those larger files, but its as though the designers were from 2 different worlds (4300 and 300z)..the 300z has the ability to show a slide presentation directly onto TV, 4300 NOT, the 300z downloads its pictures to ANY drive with the date and a serial numner, as the file name followed byt the .JPG, the 4300 seems to look at the drive its loading into, and if there are no other Ricoh pics there, numbers the first pic as RIM00001.jpg, this kinda SUCKS, because if you are copying a pic file from one drive to annother , then one will get named the same and overwritten...I have called Both Ricoh and Arcsoft and gotten answers like "save as..." to avoid overwriting..it seems such a shame that such a fine camera has not followed through with their software...I think that the 300z's software might be able to work for the 4300 but I can't get an answer from those guys...Hope you all out there considering a 4300 observe caution when downloading or transferring your picture files...I lost some very good shots !!!
