Hey guys! I just got back from another vacation, and along the way, we stayed at a Red Roof Inn hotel. We started looking at the special features they had with the tv, and all the movies they offered, and we then saw that you could see titanic in your room for only 7.95! It was really great that for once you could actually watch the movie in a place more "homey" like. You could spread out all over anywhere you want, get up and walk around. it was cool.

Hello Kate: How did they pull that one off? Maybe they could get the film the same way as a theater but other than that, I don't know how they could legally do that. But, anyway, how did the film seem on the "small screen" and was it in letter box format? If they did this presentation on the up and up, someone in Red Roof's marketing was certainly forward thinking!

Hey! actually i did wonder that myself (how they pulled that off), so i asked them. They just said don't know, and kind of avoided the subject. So i don't know. The movie will never be the same on the "small screen", but still, i loved the movie, and it was another chance for me to see it. Sorry, but i am not completely sure what the "letter box version" is. Letterbox is the format where you have a space at the top and bottom of the screen. It is for wide screen movies so that you don't loose any of the scene by fitting to the screen. When Titanic comes out on video next month it will be available in both formats. Interesting that they dodged the question of how they got the film!

I was at a Quality Inn last week that had pay per views as well. I saw the trailer for Titanic but then it said "still in theaters". I doubt you would be able to legitimately see the movie out of a theater yet. Besides, many Red Roof Inns have 19 inch sets, worn sheets, and poor water pressure as well as usually being located in bad neighborhoods. An exception would be the one in Madison Heights, MI. But it's just across the street from a theater that's still showing "Titanic". My conclusion : wait for the video. It's less than a month away!

Kathleen, I live in the Chicago area. But I travel frequently to suburban Detroit on business. I've seen "Titanic" twice at the Star Theatres just across the street from that (actually very good) Red Roof Inn. I'm not sure it's still playing there though. BTW, a warning: never stay at the nearby Motel 6!

Dan, Although most of my "Titanic" viewings were at the Star Southfield (with its 20 screens and super sound system), I did "Titanic" once at the Star John R, which is maybe 5-6 miles from my house in the 13 Mile and Woodward area. It was in one of the new smaller theatres (200 seats maybe) with stadium seating. I saw about halfway up and was eyelevel with the middle of the screen. The sound was incredible in that small setting!!! Truly one of the more awesome "Titanic" viewings I've experienced. BTW...I'm up to 13 viewings and think that I should go at least one more time!?!?!

Absolutely! See it one last time in a theater before it comes out on video. Even with a big-screen set and surround sound, watching the video will be a disappointment in comparison.

GAJ: Sorry, I meant no offense. I admit I can be a bit prickish sometimes.
