Re: User Unknown emails...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'm not sure how many people are aware of this but when someone posts on this forum a robot sends not one but two messages to your email address,...these messages indicate that the server has done its job, not that you have replied to a bogus email address. This is different of course from the real bogus emails which I think are easy enough to spot by their cleverness such as something like "anon@noway.com"....

I'm just posting this because some email misunderstandings may be occurring because of this.

I just automatically expect two email messages in my mailbox for every post I leave here at Yourdon's.

You automatically get a response from the server IF you give your correct e-mail address. Since I have been using the bogus one, I don't get that message anymore. However, when I send an e-mail to a bogus e-mail, I get a message, of undeliverable, or do not recognize e-mail address. If people want to use a bogus e-mail, that's fine, but why even waste the time entering one in and waste one's time responding off the forum. I guess now if I want to respond, everything will be right out in front of the unverse. Bardou
