Full Blown Plant test?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

I have heard internet rumors of a plant(not sure whether fossil, nuclear or Hydro), supposedly somewhere near Ohio, that was taken down for a forced outage and while they were down decided to change the dates ahead to Y2k. Unfortunately, and, of course, the unit tripped. When their forced outage was at an end, they tried to set the dates back but couldn't. According to the speculation, that plant did not come up for three months.

My questions are these: 1. Is this account accurate? 2. Can it be validated? 3. Is there any information out there detailing what needed to be done to get the plant working again? 4. If this account is not valid, does anyone know if this test has been done elsewhere and if there is any data pertaining to test?

Please post at this site or e-mail me direct if you have any knowledge of this test or any like it

I first heard this 'rumor' 6 or 8 months ago, but was never able to find confirmation. That's why it never made it to the euy2k.com website. File it in the "urban legend" bucket.
