DAN RATHER SPEAKS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Tonight the lead story(July 22) on the CBS evening news was about Y2K. The Pentagon fears trouble in 2000. They are falling behind with repairs in the Dept. of the Navy, etc. John Hamre also fears problmes with nuclear missles in Russia. Way to go Dan....the lead story. Take heed you denial heads, and lets hope we can save ourselves from too much misery.

Throw Dan a dog biscuit. Good boy!

Does Dan Rather have ANY input regarding what he reads on the evening news?

In all seriousness, I thought he, like other television news-anchors, were hired for their looks and voice. Doesn't he just read a script?

If so, then the mass media may be showing signs of no longer trying to down-play Y2K. I just hope "the people" aren't being scared into accepting a Government take-over (martial law).

Dan Rather is the managing editor of the evening news. I'm sure he has a lot of input as to what goes on the air. What difference would it make anyway? The story was #1 and scary as hell.

I saw that report and what struck me was his us of the term "so-called Y2K problem". Sounded like he didn't really believe it.

I saw the entire report and thought CBS did an excellent job. It showed serious concern on the part of the Pentagon higher ups.

As most of us will agree, however, a three minute blurb doesn't exactly stir the masses. Y2K takes time to study, absorb and contemplate. Then denial, then study, then denial, then study, then spend money.

Score one for Dan. :)

Dan Rather probably does not believe it because he is one of the sheeple. :)
