Dear Sir:

Its me again I just wanted to know what the paint scheme of the most common E8/9, E8, E7 on a corragated side passenger train before the merger with Atlantic Coast Line was it the so-called "Citrus" scheme or "Mint Julip" scheme. If neither of these schemes are correct pick the most common of the two.

I can tell everyone from first hand experience hanging around the West Palm Beach depot in the early sixties that there were no E units left in the Citrus scheme. I saw most, if not all, passenger units in the course of my train watching.

Greg, The most common E unit paint scheme on the SAL before the SCL merger was light mint green with red stripe and dark green roof. The mint green usually looked white except on newly painted units. The original citrus colors were, I believe, long gone by the merger: I never saw one at that time on the Miami - NY runs. An interesting follow up question might be if any E units were still painted in the original scheme by the time of the merger.
