Using a 3rd party to analyse our Y2K inventory

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

I work at a large gold and copper mine in Indonesia. We have recently completed a Y2k inventory of all the software and hardware used in operations.

To save time we are considering using a 3rd party to analyse out Y2k inventory and advise on the compliance status of the listed items.

Can anyone recommend a company that specialises in carrying out this work for large companies that rely on the use of automated equipment for production.

I am a control systems engineer and the firm I am employed with is a full solutions provider of year 2000 compliance issues. We will handle all or any part of a large project such as yours and have access to data bases containing the compliance information you are seeking in the process control arena. I would enjoy talking with you and discussing possible solutions to your problem. Gary F. Owens LOGIX Solutions,Inc. Denver, Colorado 303-573-5441 Ext. 2149

One of the industry leaders at analyzing embedded computerized products for compliance is Tava Technologies at www.tavatech.com.

We personally have had no business with them, but have heard from local folks who use them that they do on site surveys and have a very extensive database on embedded computer products. The only other thing I can say about them is that they are conducting massive phone surveys about embedded product compliance because they have called my company on two occasions by mistake when they wanted our sister company.

Hope it helps, tim mccully
