Which university offers a very good graduate school for sports psychology

greenspun.com : LUSENET : APA Division 47 Exercise and Sport Psychology : One Thread

As a recently finished undergrad. psychology major, I am extremely interested in finding out where sports psychology is being offered as a field of study for graduate school. In going through lists of universities, I have been unsuccessful in identifying a university which does. Can anybody make any good suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you - Narda.

There are not many options if you are looking for programs in departments of psychology. One is a brand new program which is awaiting final state approval. Here at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology we are planning to offer new grad program in sport-exercise psychology in sept 99....if you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me.

Narda,

I'm in the same boat as you. During my search for answers I came across a book that I'm about to order. It's called The "Directory of Graduate Programs in Applied Sport Psychology," by Sachs, Burke, and Gomer. Good news...they now have a fifth edition that came out in march of 98. Good Luck! :-)

I have a friend who finished his masters degree in University of Oregon. He finished his masters degree that focus on sports psychology. Mostly, schools nowadays have specific courses offered. Some offered Sports medicine, Dance therapy, etc. I could suggest that u can visit also the site www.unl.edu. More Power! ;-)
