need author of poem containing "Play up play up and play the game"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poetry : One Thread

Hi, My mom is trying to remember the author of a poem that starts with

There's a breathless hush is the close tonight A match to win and the last man in

Each verse ends the same:

Play up play up and play the game

She says it's a poem about a schoolboy in England playing cricket in the first verse, and then in the second, he is fighting a battle in a desert somewhere. She thinks it might be Kipling. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
