GWTW!! {re-release on June 26th}

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

This has nothing to do with Titanic but some of you will be interested to know that Gone With the Windit will be in SELECTED theaters June 26. They've done some color and sound editing, it should be good. I don't know about you, but I'm for it!!

I just can't help wondering if the popularity of Titanic made them do this, since it passed GWTW as the highest grossing film of all time. It's only a thought, please don't take offense.

"Gone With The Wind" would have undoubtedly been released early in 1999 to celebrate its 60th anniversary (actual anniversary date is December 15). Yes, the popularity of "Titanic" as well as the many comparisons probably played into the decision to re-release GWTW now. Another reason is that a new video version is probably being planned for the Christmas season, giving GWTW about 18 months of celebrating its 60th anniversary before the actual event.
