Had the poem "The Listeners" as my final in english class was wondering who wrote it and what the real subtext and literal text is to other people. Teacher never got around to telling us. would love to know thank you

The Listeners was by Walter de la Mare (English poet, died around 1950. It's a very mysteriouys poem - you're left wondering who the traveller is and why he's come back.
