Best guess

Mr. Cowles,

What is your best guess about the likelyhood of rolling blackouts--how about blackouts lasting more than three days? I am not asking for anything other than an educated guess.

Thank you,

rich

According to Sen. Bennet who chairs the Senate Y2K committee, there is a 40% chance that we will experience sporadic, regional failures. He is a politician and does not want to panic Americans. I would bet he is low, in my opinion very low. I also doubt the failures will be regional, I suspect they will be wide spread.

The real question is how long will they last. I have heard estimates of 30 to 90 days, maybe more. If you are asking this question so that you can prepare, I suggest you prepare for 3 to 6 months. I tell people I will either be a warm well feed fool or warm and well feed. There is no danger in being over prepared, much danger in being under prepared.
