What are your 8 favorite parts of the movie? {-e-}

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

Mine are:

1. Rose jumping back on the ship and kissing Jack.

2. Rose meeting Jack in heaven.

3. Young Rose's eye morphing to old Rose's.

4. The ship breaking in two.

5. Jack and Rose flying.

6. Jack and Rose flying, part II (the Renault scene).

7. Thomas thinking he's king of the world with his censorship and identificiation abilities.

8. Thomas squirming with his "closing" of threads he doesn't like.

9. Thomas not realizing he's really queen of the world. (Why else wouldn't he be out on a Friday night?) (I guess asexuality is always a possibility..never mind)

10. Thomas thinking of a comeback.

Excuse me, "Shirleyburlymurley". I don't find your question very amusing at all. First of all, I don't recall there being a "Thomas" in the film, unless you mean Thomas Andrews, the shipbuilder. But he neither thought he was king or queen of the world nor try to close any threads. And I have no idea what you mean about threads. Is "to close a thread" a new expression meaning to sew clothes? I can't understand you! Stop speaking Swedish, you fool. If Mr. Andrews was making a sweater or suit, all the power to him. We should all be that versatile. On the earlier points you made, I totally agree. My favorite parts were also when Rose tried to kill herself, and when Ruth tightened her corset. I'll add more later as I remember them.

Hmm, I think she may be talking about our listkeeper, and strictly in jest so don't be TOO hard on her! I think Thomas can take a little ribbing as well as the rest of us!

Okay, this will be tricky, but here's my favourite eight parts (in no particular order):

1. Bow Flying scene and first kiss "I'm flying Jack"
2. The Car Scene "put your hands on me Jack"
3. The Dinner Scene "Last week I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am, having dinner with you fine people"
4. The Steerage Party "we're gonna have to get a little closer than that"
5. When Rose jumps out of the lifeboat "Why'd you do that? You're so stupid Rose" "I couldn't do it Jack . . . you jump, I jump, right"
6. The Drawing scene "I do believe you're blushing, Mr Big Artiste. I can't imagine Monsieur Monet blushing." "He does landscapes"
7. The dolphin scene when Titanic is leaving Southampton "I'm the King of the world!"
8. The final scene when Jack and Rose are reunited.

Oh, and I also love the part at the end when the camera pans across Rose's photo collection. I especially love the one of her in front of the plane (Come Josephine in my flying machine) and the one of her on the horse in front of the rollercoaster.

Okay, I know this wasn't in the question but my favourite quote from the movie was "Winning that ticket was the best thing that ever happened to me Rose, it brought me to you . . . and I'm thankful for that" Sob!!!!

Emma, no fair, you mentioned a lot of mine! :))) Well, in addition, I liked all of the transitions from present to past and vice versa. And Shirley, that "morph" of the eyes was indeed great, so instrumental in convincing me that 101 year old Rose was 17 year old Rose. Also, one of the most touching scenes for me was where all the listeners were so moved by Rose's story. I'm starting to cry again too. I only saw this movie recently and just stumbled upon this site. I'm quite embarrassed to not have listened to friends earlier who urged me several times to go to the movie. The one thing I don't quite understand is all these references to Thomas, whomever he is. What does his sexual orientation have to do with anything? While we're on the subject, what does Leonardo's or anyone else's? I thought one theme of this movie was to be accepting of one another. I look forward to reading everyone else's favorite parts of this movie. Oh, one more: when the boats row (among the dead) and the guy waves the flare back and forth to the Carpathia. The tears were streaming down heaviest then. Emma, lend me a tissue :(

Sorry I took all your favourite parts Susan. The part I was crying the hardest on was when Rose looked at Jack and realised he was dead and had to let him go and you just saw him slowly float away. I couldn't see the screen through all my tears. My chin was wobbling I was that bad and I didn't even have a hanky.

BTW, when Shirleyburleymurley refers to Thomas, I'm pretty positive that she's referring to the Thomas that runs this site for us, not the Thomas from the movie.

My 8 favorite parts are:

1) Jack and Rose flying
2) When she says take me to the stars
3) I know this is kind of the same but "Come Josephine
4) When he says I'm King of the World
5) The blushing part about Monet
6) When old Rose says " It's been 84 years and then he says tell all you can remember then she say I said it's been 84 yrs.
7) The last scene when they are reunited
8) The steerage party.

I love the whole movie
