The President

Someone has said, "*IF* the American economy does take a dive, the 2000 presidential election will be won by whomever can do the best James Madision impression:"

It is my understanding that,if the President declares a National State of Emergency, there won't be any elections until the State of Emergency is over.

That just might be the most frightening part of y2k I have heard yet. Not, really, but please say it won't happen.... Joe

Just for your edification, the congress passed a law a few years ago (and the contents of the law are classified, by the way) that states that if a national emergency is declared by the President, the running of the country is turned over to FEMA, which in turn answers directly to the United Nations. (I'm not making this up.) Check it out...

I understand that President Clinton has moved FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) out from under Congressional authority and under the National Security Council (which is under the control of President Clinton).

Perhaps this information could be verified.

It has been announced that the prez will be making a y2k statement to the nation in the next few weeks. It is being decided as to from what platform he will speak so as not to add panic to the people. This ought to be good.
