Suggested Product & What About 3.5" Disk Cameras?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Good day! Our church is thinking of purchasing a digital camera to use for outtings and Mission (overseas) trips. We use Powerpoint with a data projector in our worship services each week and would love to display images from events, trips, etc. the following week. Two questions: (1)Any suggestions one what product might best suit our needs? (Think about batteries too, since we may be in locations with no ability to recharge batteries.) (2)What about these new cameras that store images on 3.5" floppies? Does anyone have experience with these? (Sounds like a great way to save images rather than having to download out of memory after 20 shots). Thanks! Dwayne Moore

I have tried the Mavica and returned it. Its a nice camera but too large for your pocket. So, like most things you have to carry in your hand at all times, it is quite easy to leave it at home instead of bringing it on an outing. Record time to the floppy disk was also too slow for my liking. Finally, I did not like the idea of carrying around a pocket full of diskettes. They don't hold much info at any reasonable resolution. Better to buy a camera with and extra Smartmedia card or Compact Flash memory which can be changed out if it becomes full.
