survival

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Since the media, government, and industries are doing such a poor job (in my opinion) getting the job done and getting the information to the people, perhaps we should begin expressing our concerns in terms of casualties. Percent of the American population wiped out if the grid is down for 30, 60, 90.... days.

Should we paint a picture of what life will be like in the cities, suburbs, country side. But not just living conditions, but what is likely to happen when to mobs begin to move.

Most people think the Y2K problem will be a problem, and not much more. They have no idea the impact if the grid goes down. They do not under stand the relationship between the grid and transportation, shipping, food, communication, defense, and survival.

I have been expecting the System to collapse since the '60s. I didn't know exactly when or how. I do now. Visit my website thefriendlystranger.com Not much on it yet; I am dependent on a friend. There is a saying Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Seems like good advice. Gotta go. My time at my only access (the library) is limited.
