Lots. The most striking is the scene where you see the people in the water, thousands, in "Titanic" and the wounded people on the ground, again thousands, in GWTW. But there are many more...

There is another thread somwhere on this page that goes over the many, many, many details that are similar to GWTW and Titanic. The directers stick to the smallest details in both movies. As mentioned the thousands of people, there are maids in both movies, both leading women are rich, I believe they were both released in December..... the list goes on and on and on. It is hard to read everything that's been put in this web site, what with people flaming it with unnecessary daily box office updates, but do try. A lot of the early contributions were insightful and original. Some people just feel the need to answer every new question with material provided months ago by others, knowingly or not. I challenge every reader on this site to read and build onto conversations rather than bombard it with repetitive questions and answers and unnecessary trivia like BO updates.

Gina, if you don't care about BO, that's not to say that nobody here does. I could very well not post, but incidentally some people are curious to see how the movie is doing and what is the reaction of the viewers after a long time or abroad. As for finding "intelligent" stuff, Thomas has arranged everything in threads. All the BO goes only to one thread. "I don't see what's all the fuss about," to quote young Rose...

Whenever possible (and appropriate), I leave postings up. I've only had to delete a handful of posting in the past year.

I'd like to say that I'm working on the all-inclusive FAQ...I'm *not*, at the moment. Perhaps next week; this should cut down on the number of repetitive postings. (In other news, I'll be starting my Xmas shopping for 1997 'Real Soon Now'.)

Daniel, you may be interested in what most people really think about your BO updates. The silent majority, who I represent, wishes you would just stop. Also, your threads end up in the unanswered questions thread. WHen someone wants to see the "real" unanswered questions, it takes forever because all those silly BO threads are in there.

Keep in mind that TitanicShack (tm) is a general-purpose, sprawling set of websites: your mileage may vary.

I've noticed that in the past few days that there are more snarky postings. The mood in the lifeboats after Titanic sank was similar; reading through Walter Lord's A Night to Remember, it is mentioned that a lot of people started acting petty and irritable.

A while back I posted a list of 40 or so points showing similarities between the movies "Titanic" and "Gone With The Wind." That posting thread is accessible by selecting the Motion Picture History thread and then choosing GWTW-Titanic comparison. Since I originally posted that list, I've added about 8 new points. Hello Gina: I don't know who made you spokesperson for the "silent majority" but this individual appreciates the updates. They are clearly identified on the list and if you wish to bypass them, then I suggest you do. As for building conversations about the Titanic itself or the film, I don't think, in my opinion, that there ever has or ever will be a problem finding things to discuss about those two subjects. As I have said before here and elsewhere (so I am repeating myself), I have been a Titanic enthusiast for 40 years and there has never been a lack of subject matter to discuss about this event in history. I'm not saying that I'm any kind of an expert on the subject, just a long-time interested party, and how the film is doing is a part of that interest. Having said that, I welcome the BO updates and speak for no one else, it's just my opinion.

Gina, Peter, Dan: Maybe a solution that will satisfy all is to have just one thread called "Box Office News", and every day (or however often) it can be updated with a new "answer" rather than having a new heading each day. Anyone interested in the latest box office news can then go to "Recent Answers" and go right into that heading. Just my two cents.

My guess is that you'll be sorry to not see yourself on the "front page" every day-- you seem to be a grandstander. Do what you want. I've been emailing with others privately, BTW, and I know for a fact that many, many think the BO updates on the "front page" are just a way for Dan to get that so-needed attention. :) I'm just kidding. Do try this new solution though.
