Dave Matthews Band Bumps "Titanic" From Top Of Chart

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

In a move that is sure to earn him the title of "iceberg" in countless chart wrap-up stories, Dave Matthews has finally wrestled the number one spot on the album chart from the "Titanic" soundtrack. The Dave Matthews Band's latest effort, "Before These Crowded Streets," moved more than 420,000 copies, making for the first non-Titanic number one in five months. The Celine Dion-powered soundtrack slipped all the way to number three according to Soundscan sales figures, as the soundtrack to "City Of Angels" moved past it into the number two spot. The week's other big debut belongs, appropriately enough, to Big Punisher, whose "Capital Punishment" debuts at number five. Other notable bows belong to WC who checks in at 19 with "Shadiest One," the Lilith Fair live two-CD set at number 24, and Public Enemy's soundtrack for "He Got Game" at 26.
