I am in Marin near Novato. I also know of some others in the Bay Area.

My wife and I live in a small residential neighborhood, just outside of Fairfield. It is a typical bedroom community. I have only becoomme aware of the looming disaster within the last five to six weeks, and am working very hard to get as prepared as I can. It is an overwhelming task. We'll be ok. I don't know of anyone else who is preparing. I keep bringing up the subject, and the only response I get is "yeah, it could get ugly", and blank stares.

I live in Fremont, CA. I'd love to hear from some other people, and possibly to a webpage...

My Lady and I are taking time out from the rat race to "head into the hills" to teach ourselves the additional survival skills that we lack. How many of you would know how to build a hasty shelter from fallen branches and other debris in a wilderness area, forage for food, know which plants are safe to eat, etc. It goes without saying, that if it really does hit the fan, if you are dependent on society at all, you will not survive. If it doesn't, then you are not farther behind anyway. Besides, it will have been one heckuva vacation. And to think, I used to snicker at "Survival Types." So, anyone else have this in mind?

For those in the Bay Area, you might think about preparing a place to go to the north or east. As for me, I will be east of highway 49 at 4000 feet. Hopefully far enough away from areas such as Stockton. Wherever you go, know your neighbors, I think that is the key.
