Convert Casios CAM format into JPG

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hello world, is there an application around that helps me to convert the Casio CAM picture format into the more common JPG format without hassle? I am not talking about the QVLink applciation, where it is very cumbersome to export the cam file. I am looking for a straight mass converter. Thanks, Alex

Try QV-AutoCam; download free trial copy from www.beausoft.com

As well as cam to jpg conversion, allows use of casio as a webcam, thumbnail manager and a bunch of other features.

I 'converted' Casio's .CAM format to .JPG format by simply renaming the file '.jpg'. It runs fine on VuePro (W95) or PMView (OS/2) my main viewing programs. My guess is that they stuffed the thumbnail plus the data of the shot (date, size, name. etc) into what is basically a .jpg file. Just drag or otherwise copy the .CAM file from the QV dump folder over to your storage folder somewhere else on a hard drive (also do a copy to a floppy for safety!). But you do this anyway, right, so the dump folder will be empty for the next camera downloading session. Once the files are safely moved you can rename them .jpg and the problem is solved.
