There were a few prominent men with the name of Haight, including a previous Governor and his father, a Judge in the U.S. District Court. But, it is most likely it was named after Henry Haight, a prominent local banker who was a founder of the Protestant Orphan Asylum, which I believe was on Haight St., and donated the land for it.
