P3200 project ideas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread

A couple years ago I acquired about 40 rolls of 3200 film. I know there is some sort of project I can embark on with this film. I have heard of photographers shooting it rated at 800 or 1000 and changing the developement. Any ideas tips suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. ABC

I hope you have kept your film in the freezer for the past 2 years. Kodak T-Max P3200 (TMZ) film is subject to aging and natural radiation and should be processed ASAP after purchase. Try shooting a few rolls and see what happens. The film has a EI of 1000, which Kodak rounds off to 800. An EI speed of 1600 is therefore a 1 stop push and EI 3200 a 2 stop push. This is a wonderful film for shooting low light subjects. I have been shooting available light photographs of musicians in live performances at concerts and in clubs with TMZ for some time. For a full range of tones, set your exposure meter at 1000. Develop in T-Max liquid developer 1:4 for 7.5 minutes at 20 C or 68 F. For other speeds and developers (such as Xtol), consult the KODAK web site for data sheets.
